Technical development in soccer is important for a number of reasons, including:
Understanding the game: Technical training helps players develop a deeper understanding of the game and how to react to different situations.
Mastering the ball: By mastering the ball, players can focus on the game's dynamics and other aspects.
Developing fundamental skills: Players should acquire fundamental technical skills by their teenage years to progress into elite sports.
Developing motor skills: Most professional coaches agree that it's important for youth players to develop fundamental motor skills between the ages of 8 and 12.
Preparing for the future: Technical training helps players become more confident in the sport and also leads to developmental support that is outside of the sport such as discipline, effort, respect, etc.
Technical training focuses on improving skills such as:
Ball control, dribbling, passing, shooting, defensive positioning, and tactical understanding.
At Sundre Soccer, we may schedule additional academy sessions/ workshops to give the youth soccer players of Sundre an opportunity to work on their skills further. These activities are also great for those players who have never experienced soccer but would like to take the academy sessions/ workshop to see if it were something they would like to participate into a more organized soccer season.
